THE CAMP Smiley PROJECT

One of the most effective ways to prevent child abuse and neglect is intervention in domestic violence (American Academy of Pediatrics, 1998). To address this problem, ISF, Lutheran Settlement House and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children formed a collaborative, The Children and Mom’s Project (CAMPSmiley). The goal of CAMPSmiley is to prevent child abuse and neglect by screening families at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children for domestic violence and providing services to prevent further violence, thereby reducing the risk of the child abuse that so often accompanies domestic violence. ISF received one of 23 statewide Children’s Trust Fund grants to carry out the CAMPJ project over three years.
