SAFE AND BRIGHT FUTURES FOR CHILDREN

ISF received a two-year U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant for its Safe and Bright Futures for Children Initiative. ISF and Lutheran Settlement House are leading this effort, with more than 20 agencies and organizations in Philadelphia, to plan and develop a coordinated community response to the needs of children exposed to family violence using pediatric health care settings as a focal point. The goal of this project is the development of a strategic plan and an examination of the city's capacity to enhance the current system. Phase One of the project determines the prevalence of children's exposure to domestic violence, based on national and local data. Phase Two studies the current system to identify gaps in services and best practices. Phase Three designs a model health care system for a pediatric response to family violence.
